Prepare the bread.
Cut off the crusts (yes, we’re being picky today). Flatten each slice slightly with a rolling pin or your hands.
Shape the doughnuts.
Use a round cutter (or a glass) to cut circles. Then cut a smaller circle in the center to create that iconic doughnut shape.
Dip in milk.
Quickly dip each piece in milk. Don’t soak it—this isn’t a sponge experiment. Just a quick dip to soften.
Heat the oil.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Test with a small piece—if it sizzles, you’re good to go.
Fry the doughnuts.
Fry each piece for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. Flip carefully—they’re fragile little legends.
Coat in sugar.
Mix sugar and cinnamon, then toss the warm doughnuts in it. This is where the magic happens.
Add toppings (optional).
Drizzle chocolate, add sprinkles, or go classic. Your doughnuts, your rules.
