Ingredients

  • 2 large grapefruits pink or red for extra sweetness and color
  • 2 –3 tablespoons brown sugar packed (more if you like it sweeter)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional, but trust me—it’s magical
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for a hint of warmth
  • A pinch of salt to make that sugar pop
  • Optional toppings:
  • Honey drizzle
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Toasted coconut flakes

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Don’t skip this—your grapefruit deserves the perfect heat.
  • Slice the grapefruits in half crosswise and remove any seeds. Don’t worry about perfect cuts; rustic is cute.
  • Sprinkle each half with 1–1.5 teaspoons of brown sugar. Add a dash of cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Optional: a few drops of vanilla extract.
  • Place grapefruits on a baking sheet cut-side up. If you want to catch extra syrup, line it with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes until the sugar melts and caramelizes slightly. Keep an eye on it—sugar burns faster than your patience.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly (or don’t, if you’re impatient like me). The juices will be hot and bubbly.
  • Optional: drizzle with honey or sprinkle with fresh mint before serving.
