Ingredients

  • 2 shots about 2 ounces total of espresso or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee
  • 3/4 cup milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 1-2 teaspoons sugar or sweetener optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract optional but classy
  • Ice for iced versions
  • Pinch of cocoa powder or cinnamon for dusting optional

Instructions

  • Pull or brew your espresso. If you don’t own an espresso machine, strong brewed coffee works—just aim for a bold flavor. No wimpy coffee here.
  • Warm your milk until it’s pleasant to touch. If you crave a foam, heat it a bit longer and whisk or shake in a jar until it’s foamy.
  • Sweeten if you like. Add sugar, honey, or your favorite sweetener and stir until it dissolves. Pro tip: warm milk first to help it dissolve faster.
  • Combine espresso with the milk. If you’re going for a latte look, aim for roughly 1:3 ratio of espresso to milk. Adjust to taste—stronger if you’re awake now, lighter if you’re not.
  • Top with a light dusting of cocoa or cinnamon if you’re feeling fancy. Optional, but it makes you look like you own a cafe.
