Ingredients

  • 1 large lemon or 2 small ones
  • 1-2 inch piece of fresh ginger
  • 2 cups cold water still or sparkling, your call
  • Optional: a pinch of turmeric or a dash of honey
  • Ice cubes as many as you like

Instructions

  • Slice the lemon into rounds, removing any seeds. The seeds are not your friends in this party.
  • Peel and grate or finely mince the ginger. You want the zing, not a mouthful of chewy mystery.
  • In a pitcher, muddle the lemon and ginger lightly to release their juices and essential oils. No need to turn it into a sauce—just press gently.
  • Pour in water, stir, and taste. If you’re feeling picky, add a tiny pinch of turmeric or a touch of honey for sweetness.
  • Chill for 15–20 minutes or serve immediately over ice. Fresh, bright, and ready to drink.
