Ingredients

  • Chicken tenders or strips – the hero of the dish.
  • Buttermilk – for soaking and keeping them juicy.
  • Flour – all-purpose for that golden crunch.
  • Paprika – smoky adds color and flavor.
  • Cayenne pepper – for that signature Nashville heat.
  • Garlic powder & onion powder – flavor boosters.
  • Salt & black pepper – because duh.
  • Butter – melted for the spicy oil bath.
  • Hot sauce – optional but recommended.
  • Vegetable or canola oil – for frying.

Instructions

  • Prep the chicken.
  • Soak chicken tenders in buttermilk for 30 minutes. Add a pinch of salt to the milk for extra flavor.
  • Mix the dry coating.
  • Combine flour, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  • Dredge the chicken.
  • Coat each tender evenly in the flour mixture. Shake off excess.
  • Fry to golden perfection.
  • Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Make the spicy butter.
  • Melt butter and mix in paprika, cayenne, and hot sauce. Pour over fried tenders immediately.
  • Rest & plate.
  • Let chicken rest 2–3 minutes to set the spicy buttery coating. Then serve immediately.
