Butter the bread like you mean it.
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Don’t be shy—this is where the crunch magic happens.
Build the cheesy situation.
Place cheese between two slices, buttered sides facing out. Basically, bread + cheese = happiness stack.
Heat your pan.
Use medium heat. Not “lava level,” not “barely warm.” We’re aiming for golden, not burnt regret.
Cook the sandwich.
Place it in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes per side. Press lightly if you want extra crisp edges.
Flip carefully.

Cheese should be fully melted, slightly dramatic, and possibly leaking a little (that’s a good sign).
